Welcome to the wonderful, chaotic, and incredibly rewarding world of Year 1!
Whether you are a first-year teacher or transitioning from another year level, you’ve just stepped into one of the most pivotal years of a child’s schooling. I’m Tahlia, the creator behind
Little Nest Designs, and most importantly, a fellow Grade 1 teacher.
I am currently taking some time away from the classroom on maternity leave, which has given me the chance to reflect on what truly makes a classroom thrive. I know exactly how those first few weeks feel: the endless "To-Do" lists, the pressure to create a beautiful environment, and the desire to set up routines that actually work.
I created this pack because I wanted to give you the resources I wish I had when I started. My goal with Little Nest Designs has always been to combine aesthetic, calming classroom decor with high-quality, practical teaching tools that save you time and headspace.

The first year of teaching is a marathon, not a sprint. Please remember to be kind to yourself, your students don't need a "perfect" teacher; they need a regulated, happy teacher who shows up for them. I hope these resources take a little bit of the weight off your shoulders so you can focus on building those beautiful connections with your new little learners.
