Magic Name Cloud Activity - First Week Back at School | Prep | Year 1 | Year 2 | Year 3
The Name Cloud is a beautiful, low-stress activity perfect for the first week. It combines art, fine motor skills (tracing/cutting), and identity. It also makes for a fantastic "First Week" bulletin board display!
Here is how to explain and run the activity:
The Magic Name Cloud Activity
The Goal: Students celebrate their names and practice identifying the letters that make them unique.
The Materials:
Download the editable template of a cloud and student name
Coloured strips of paper (the "rainbow" tails).
Crayons, markers, and glue sticks.
Why This is a "First Week" Win:
Assessment: It lets you discreetly see who can use scissors and glue correctly, colour in, cut out shapes etc.
Decor: It instantly covers your empty walls with student work, making the kids feel like they "own" the room.
Conversation: As they work, you can walk around and say, "Oh, I see you put 'Pizza' on your cloud! I love pizza too!" It's an easy icebreaker.
